At the top of this year, B3XX, known for her delicate neo-soul after debut EP Solar Plexus in 2024, released a ‘live at home’ video for the graceful title track. Taking on a Tiny Desk style, the track is brought to life in the new setting with warming piano tones and synth pads. The guitar, double bass and Cajon are tied to create a foot-tap-inducing groove with pretty flourishes coming from the higher-ranged instruments.
At the centre is B3XX herself, showing her raw talent needs no extra production as captivating melodies soar into the atmosphere and come floating back down to earth. Performative, elegant and making it look effortless, it’s well worth a watch.
Here’s what she had to say about the single, “Solar Plexus is a track that I wrote to my younger self. I went through a dark time in my music career where I felt I ran out of options and focused solely on other’s opinions. Naturally, when we go through things we tend to only focus on the bad. At a certain point, you have to let go, lean back & let God do his thing with your life. 9 times out of 10, you’ll always end up in a better situation than you thought you would. It may take some time to get there, but Solar Plexus is a reminder not to waste too much time, wasting time. Your dream can only become your reality if YOU believe that it will.”
B3XX is based in Florida, but her influences spread the global crossroads of neo-soul, R&B and pop, with the likes of Ariana Grande and Lauryn Hill at the forefront of her inspiration. Bringing themes of love, self-discovery and empowerment, her lyricism is often a testament to the beauty of the music that surrounds it.
