Barton Hartshorn shares the heartfelt narrative of ‘The King of my Undoing’

Folk-pop poet Barton Hartshorn has returned with a new single entitled ‘The King of my Undoing’. Building a gleaming and energetic atmosphere around his vocals, Barton wraps himself up in self-reflection and doubt, pitching his anxieties as the object blocking his path. Balancing a heartfelt narrative with infectious rhythms and irresistible melodies, the artist arranges a rich ensemble of folk instrumentation, bouncy piano and acoustic guitar, driving drums and a bass injecting sleek grooves wherever possible. The final moments are a dynamic climax, repeating the refrain with pure passion.

Barton shares a comment on the release, “That voice at the back of your head thinks he’s in control, thinks he’s wearing the crown. Let’s see what happens if we give him the microphone. Who knows…maybe he’s right, maybe we’ll learn something. Let’s roll tape on this one…give him his 15 minutes of fame, then maybe, just maybe he’ll shut the f**k up.”

Barton Hartshorn's musical career originally launched as part of Dictafone, fronting the band for three albums. After the band’s final LP in 2011, Barton settled back into the folk roots of his childhood village, bringing his unique storytelling to new solo projects.

Since then, the artist has toured America, released five albums, and received worldwide press acclaim, putting Barton in a great position for his upcoming EP ‘Everything…’, set for release May 31st.
