Deborah Borg Brincat and Gianluca Pulvirenti make up the environmentally conscious and all-round good guy group Berne. The two Maltese artists joined forces a few years back and made a promise to themselves and each other that they would make music that is as much activism as it is art.
Since then, the pair have regularly used their songs to draw attention to important topics like global warming, pollution and human rights issues and their debut EP is no exception. ‘Stay’ hosts a collection of five songs from the London-based duo, each focused on a topic dear to the band's heart.
“Our debut EP is a reflection of what keeps us up at night. It comes at a time when humans need to work together towards common goals more than ever. We really believe that small changes will collectively make a big impact and that is the common thread in all the songs.” - Berne.
Not ones to be afraid of experimenting with sound and facing harsh truths whilst doing it, the Stay EP is Berne as their most authentic selves; eco-warriors and musical pioneers on a mission to make conscious, genre-bending ‘Earth-pop’.
