George Croucher releases the dreamy single ‘Never Really Gone’

Singer and instrumentalist George Croucher uses his music to tell stories of loss, love and hope. Weaving in earworm melodies and rich textures, the Bournemouth-based artist continues to have a broad appeal. After completing his songwriting degree in Hertfordshire, George returned to his home town to write the seminal album ‘Notes About You’, defining the sound of his future.

Croucher’s latest release ‘Never Really Gone’ sees the artist dive into a more melancholic atmosphere than we saw across ‘Notes About You’. Passionate vocal performances and bittersweet lyricism pair with floating instrumentation that inject a sense of optimism into the track. Beautiful string arrangements, warm piano and a plucky acoustic guitar are energised by a driving drum rhythm that builds just at the right time to cover the listener in emotion.

George adds, “Never Really Gone is a single which has been a long time coming. With the original desire to write a pop hit, I’ve ended up with a song I have a strong emotional relationship with.

I set out with a tactical vision as a songwriter to write a song which would be engaging to the masses. We went through a process of nailing down what that looks like, but I believe we came out with something much better: A song from the heart, to the heart.

When we got in the studio, Angus was already three steps ahead. He had ideas and visions of how to elevate what I had made into what we have now. He was a joy and pleasure to work with and I think the song speaks in volumes of the talent Angus holds.”
