Brand new to my radar is Ian Janco, even though he's been knocking about for a fair while now as an independent singer-songwriter, with track releases dating all the way back to 2017. However, let me be the first to make amends by introducing you to this instinctive story-teller who makes songs that are both accessible and profound as demonstrated by his most recent single "Something New". At its core, this track is about something most of us can relate to - heartbreak. Ian goes further than that though, he takes us through the painful and complicated aftermath, like he sings in the chorus, "you know I'll do anything for you, can't help it I still adore you." Despite all this personal strife, Ian's warm voice and rich melodies rises above it all. It's really a heartwarming sound.
“Something New was written shortly after a breakup in the first Lockdown. It captures the feeling of knowing that a relationship is coming to an end, but still having love for a person even though they’ve moved on. On one of the darker days of that time, it just poured out of me - an expression of sadness and longing but also a kind of optimism for what’s to come. I hope that some people resonate with it and helps them get through whatever they may be going through.”
