Based in Cincinnati, singer-songwriter Lydia Shae has been performing around the Midwest for over a decade, but it’s alongside a new band lineup of Josh Belcher, Zack Sabatelli and Andrew Baughman, that she creates her unfiltered, genre-fusing sound. Influenced by the songwriting of artists like Brandi Carlile, The Avett Brothers, and Taylor Swift, Lydia’s music is powered by emotion, able to capture both delicate and empowered sensibilities.
Taking a soft, folk-pop songwriter on the surface, and opening up a performative rock star underneath is the exact personality of Lydia Shae’s debut album ‘Decade Diaries’. Able to transform her sound from an evening oasis decorated with the soft light of fireflies to a roaring fire of emotive dynamism, Lydia’s rich and controlled lead vocals are a constant centre of attention, with the listener spellbound by where she might go next.
The instrumentation is quick to echo her sentiments, where explosive guitar riffs and reverb-drenched arpeggios can come within seconds of one another. Unique, and blending pop into bluegrass and folk in a refreshing package, Lydia Shae’s first full-length project is one you can keep coming back to.
Lydia adds, "Decade Diaries is an album that compresses a coming-of-age era of autobiographical writing. From finding love, experiencing loss, and discovering yourself, it's all in there."
