Continuing on a journey to champion Scotland’s vast creative backbone, Riverside Music TV are back with its latest instalment featuring Glasgow-based rapper BEMZ. After working alongside the likes of The Snuts whilst gracing stages with Grandmaster Flash and Example, the rapper performs two tracks in session.
Masterfully exposing his art, BEMZ quickly cements himself as a raw and authentic voice on the Scottish hip-hop scene. Though not a born Scot, he was born in Nigeria before a move to London which saw him step foot on Scottish Soil as a teenager. Stripping his tracks back, BEMZ features with nothing a microphone in hand alongside a sole acoustic guitar to provide the backing. The session performances make for an intimate and powerful showcase, honing in on his emphatic lyrical prowess, an exciting snippet of bigger things to come.
Commenting on his unique circumstances, BEMZ dives in, “A lot of people would look at me and not call me a Scottish rapper, because I don’t have an accent, I wasn’t born here, I don’t look Scottish. Despite this, I’m still representing Stranraer because that's where I started my journey - that’s who I am.”
