Sorrell are a four-piece indie rock outfit from Leicester made up of Dylan Lee on vocals and guitar, Sebastian Zamfirescu also on guitar, Noel Walker O’Dowd on bass and Robin Smith on drums. They’ve been earning themselves a positive reputation in their home city for their unique brand of creativity and their energetic live presence. Their debut EP ‘Wait For Bliss’ garnered attention from BBC Introducing and gave the band a spot at Handmade Festival.
Their latest single ‘Good News’ is a wonderful mix of lush landscapes and gritty attitudes. They create this sonic sphere with a dynamic bass-line, heavy drums and electric guitars that switch between dreamy lead-lines and crunchy chord patterns. Dylan’s vocal performance cries out to the audience, portraying an emotive atmosphere that brings forward feelings of frustration, anger, but also love and melancholy.
The vocalist shares, "Good News is the song that we've always been trying to make. It has moments of odd time-signatures and off-kilter guitar lines dotted throughout, but at its core it's still a direct, heavy guitar-driven track. I wrote the song when we were really challenging ourselves with our songwriting process. It's a song about trying to push yourself to overcome past mistakes, and the pitfalls and traps along the way to achieving that.”
