XINA brings ethereal sonics with her new single "Lullaby by Whitenoise"

To understand the music Minneapolis-based musician XINA creates means to understand the intersection of movement + music in one's artistry. Pulling from her long background in dance, XINA uses the act of dance and movement as a major influence in her songwriting and visuals, as evidently expressed in her latest single and music video for "Lullaby by Whitenoise." A powerful statement with an even powerful visual component, the track highlights XINA's experience of making herself small to give other people (specifically men) more space.

Speaking on the track XINA states "Lullaby came from a place of desperation and forced acceptance of what my heart desired but could not obtain. It was very much a psychedelic stream of consciousness. In hindsight I found that it speaks to my inner child, a mixed kid who grew up in the suburbs of Minnesota. All of my crushes growing up were white boys who never paid me any attention. I'm grateful that this forced me to craft my own self-worth. Trying to convince someone to love me who did not see me in the same way caused me a lot of pain and self-deprecation. I think a lot of people have been there."

Conveying true grit and rawness to her performance both in the video and in her vocals, "Lullaby by Whitenoise" is a powerful ode to anyone who feels desperate to break free of the need to receive validation from others. Luckily for us, this is the first single from an upcoming release — the self-produced two-part “PULL/PUSH”. Until then, dip a toe into XINA's world...
